WHEN: Weekly 75-minute classes, REGISTRATION CLOSED FOR THIS SESSION.  STAY TUNED FOR NEXT OFFERING OF THIS CLASS

WHAT: 6-week online class for kids who stutter. While the course contains elements of group therapy, it is more of a support, learning, and skill-building group focused on your development of Communication Confidence by: exploring the things that squash your confidence, like certain beliefs, judgements, emotions, and habits (like avoiding talking), and developing skills and perspective to help your overcome communication challenges.

HOW: Discussion, partner activities, skill building, positive peer and teacher feedback, sharing personal stories, examining self-talk and beliefs that are barriers to confidence-building, light-hearted skill-building games, and more.  We will use Zoom as our platform so reliable internet is important. Please see outline of curriculum below.

All participants sign an agreement related to confidentiality and demonstrating respect and kindness toward others in the class.  You will receive a basic course syllabus, with some questions to reflect on, write about, or discuss with a family member before each class. You'll be encouraged to put in your best effort, but classes will low-pressure, fun, supportive, and something to look forward to!

REGISTRATION$160     Maximum 10 participants.

NOTE: It is important to me that any child who wants to participate has the opportunity. I will not turn anyone away, so if you are unable to pay the $160 in full, please contact me and discuss options.

I have been working with adults and children who stutter for over 24 years, in public schools and private and university clinics and working as a Clinical Educator at a university for almost 20 years. I also teach counseling for graduate students in training to be speech-language pathologists at Western Washington University. I have training in counseling/therapy approaches proven effective with individuals who stutter, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness and humanistic approaches to counseling that focus on listening, valuing, and supporting individuals to arrive at their own place of insight, choice, and sense of empowerment.
